A year ago when my 33 year marriage ended, I set off on a 7 week road trip from Melbourne to Brisbane and back. Along the way, I sought wisdom from the elder women who had gone before me. I remembered a conversation with my grandmother, Dolcie, when I was 16, just after I left home with only $200 in my pocket. Her words reminded me of my courage then and they gave me courage again on this journey. The doily in this work was hers. The feathers were collected along my road trip and represent freedom.
