Mountainous

From a distance, this painting appears as a landscape of mountains, but it is also the body of a woman — mid-journey, stretched out upon her bed of scars. The fabric beneath her is made from disposable medical robes, a reminder that her scars are stitched into who she is. The naked pose symbolises acceptance of her body, her story and the path ahead. Mountainous reflects the many climbs of the past year: the pain and the knowing that a better life lies beyond the peaks.
