In the 1980s, Ludwina worked at The Cauldron, one of Sydney’s coolest nightclubs at the time. Among the drinks served there was something called a Highly Volatile, a flaming shot made with Sambuca and Green Chartreuse. It was bold, theatrical and not for the faint-hearted.
This painting carries the energy of those nights: electric, glamorous and slightly dangerous. It reminds Ludwina of a time spent looking after clients including George Michael and Mel Gibson, surrounded by music, stories and the kind of moments that belong to another era.
Some stories, she says, are best left untold.
