Some paintings find you when you least expect them.
On an afternoon bike ride through Williams Landing, I came across an abandoned car sitting quietly in the landscape — surrounded by scrub, a small pond, and the kind of stillness that stops you in your tracks. I took a photo and knew I had to paint it.
Abandoned was one of my first soft pastel landscapes. A medium I'd only just begun to fall in love with. There's something fitting about capturing abandonment in a medium that feels so soft, so forgiving — as though even the forgotten things deserve to be held gently.
